Our 20 Megabit & (8) T1 radio is a point-to-point broadband microwave solution for Ethernet, T1 and VoIP (voice over IP). The link is seamless to remote sites up to 8-miles away, connecting to any switch or IP router via two 10Base-T interfaces. It runs error-free - even in severe weather, for critical WAN applications.
Throughput is achieved by combining the outputs of two 10 Mbps radios, sharing a common dual-feed antenna. While data is aggregated, the radios run at separate frequencies so that a failure in one has no effect on the other. Each radio also supports up to four T1 channels for convenient, cost-effective support of telecom or VoIP (voice over IP).
The link set-up (at each end) consists of two compact, Outdoor Units, a dish-shaped ("parabolic") antenna and two rack-mounted Indoor Units. The Outdoor Units ("ODU") contain the RF devices and attach below the antenna. Dish sizes range in diameter from 12" to 48", depending on path distance.
The ODU receives power from a rack-mounted Indoor Unit ("IDU"). Each ODU / IDU pair is connected by two RG-11 cables for signal and one 14-AWG, 2-conductor power cable. Maximum cable length is 1,000’ and power requirement is for two 120VAC receptacles, drawing 2-amps each.
The IDU has a comprehensive alarm and LED display and supplies 10Base-T and RJ-48 (T1) interfaces. The Ethernet connection runs half or full duplex and T1 channels meet AMI and B8ZS line codes (including ESF).
The microwave operates in the FCC protected 23GHz band for unparalleled interference protection. FCC licenses are valid for 10-years and renewable thereafter. For your convenience, Meridian Microwave will obtain the license as part of a turnkey delivery.
