Our 10 Megabit and T1 microwave link provides a seamless building to building wireless connection to any switch or IP router. The microwave acts simply as an extension of your internal LAN and transmits full-speed 10 megabit data (in each direction) for up to 8-miles. It runs error-free through even the most severe weather, delivering reliability or "link availability" of upwards to 99.999% for mission critical WANs.

     The complete link set-up consists (at each end) of a compact, weatherproof Outdoor Unit, a dish-shaped ("parabolic") antenna and a rack-mounted Indoor Unit. The Outdoor Unit ("ODU") houses the radio transmitter and receiver and attaches below the dish, which is 12-48" in diameter, depending on path distance.

     The ODU gets its power from a rack-mounted Indoor Unit ("IDU") eliminating the need for power on the roof. The ODU and IDU are connected by two RG-11 coaxes for signal and one 14-gauge, 2-conductor power cable. Maximum cable distance is 1,000’ and power requirement is a single 120VAC receptacle, drawing only 2-amps. 

     The IDU has a comprehensive alarm and LED display and supplies interfaces to the network (10Base-T) and PBX (RJ-45). The Ethernet connection runs half or full duplex and up to four Bell standard T1 channels may be added with no effect on data throughput.  Use the T1s for voice, voice over IP (VoIP) or video – wherever you could use some extra bandwidth. 

     The microwave operates in the FCC licensed 23GHz (gigahertz) band, which by the process and tight specifications, makes it virtually impervious to frequency interference.  FCC licenses are valid for 10-years and renewable thereafter.  For your convenience, Meridian Microwave will obtain the license as part of a turnkey delivery.
